The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has invited applications for the RPSC RAS exam. The candidates have to fill in the RPSC RAS Application Online to register. It is therefore advisable that the candidates keep a regular check on any notifications released by the RPSC.

Once the online application process is completed, the commission will be releasing the RPSC Admit Card. The Commission releases the Admit card a week prior to the date of the exam. RAS is one of the most sought after examinations and in 2018 about 4.97Lakh students registered for this exam. This means that the competition is only getting tougher and any mistake on the day of the exam can cost you an entire year.

This article is a guide to the most common mistakes committed by candidates. Let us learn and avoid these on the day of the exam.

Prepare an exam kit

"A goal without a plan is just a wish". Due to the stress of faring well in the exam, we often fail to prepare an exam kit in advance. It is therefore advisable to keep an exam kit ready to avoid unnecessary stress at the last moment. The exam kit should contain the admit card, proof of identification, stationery, and all that is required on the day of the exam. The most common mistake that candidates make on the day of the exam is to forget the admit card as well as ID. This causes unwanted stress and anxiety as failure to produce these documents can cost a candidate to lose an entire year.

Dress smart but dress right

The Commision has laid down guidelines for a dress code to be maintained on the day of the examination. It may seem like the most insignificant point. However, it must be taken seriously and the candidates must follow these rules to avoid disqualification merely on grounds of dress code. The Commision has laid down a dress code for both girls as well as boys.

Renounce the latecomers club

In the words of the great author, William Shakespear- ‘Better 3 hours too soon than a minute too late’. Being late is not an option when appearing for such competitive exams. It is best to plan the route to be taken, the mode of transport, time of departure, etc. beforehand. There are strict guidelines for disqualification of latecomers.

Pro tip: Always visit the exam center before the D-day to judge the distance, traffic, mode of communication required to reach, etc.

Haste leads to waste

Students often make mistakes due to the pressure the examination hall has on them. This leads them to make hasty, silly mistakes. Mistakes like entering incorrect information- spelling error, Roll number, incorrect marking on the OMR sheet, etc. These hasty mistakes are sure to cost you a year and can be quite demotivating too. When you feel stressed, the best way to deal is to take a deep breath, relax for a minute and then proceed.

Pretend it's the 90s

Yes, pretend it is the 90’s, because only then you will refrain from using your cell phones. Electronic devices are strictly not allowed in the examination hall. Yet, many candidates are caught with their cell phones and face disqualification. Seriously guys, keep your cell phones away!

Play by the rules

‘Play by the rules or pay with the rule!’ The rules in the examination hall aren't new. Do not talk, do not peek, do not use electronic gadgets, do not resort to any unfair practices, etc. These are the rules that we have been taught since elementary schooling. Failure to adhere to these rules, can lead to serious consequences.

These are some of the most common mistakes that candidates make on the day of the examination. Do let us know in the comment section what mistakes you have made and how your experience can help others.
